Very fine early DLV NSFK Glider Pilot Dagger. This was pre-Luftwaffe at the very beginning of the Third Reich.
The DLV Flyers knife was adopted in 1934 and the metal fittings of the hilt and scabbard are nickel plated or aluminum. The grip is made of wood and both the grip and scabbard are covered with a dark blue leather. I was told that the scabbard leather has been rewrapped but I really have very little experience with DLV daggers.
In the middle of the crossguard there's a black enameled swastika inset on both front and back. The original blue leather hanger is present. The original blue leather scabbard buffer ring is present as well.
The dagger is appx 13.25" long from end to end when the blade is in the scabbard. The DLV spread-wing insignia was stamped on the scabbard throat. This version does not contain the "K" stamp, only the single DLV insignia.
The blade is in excellent condition with only runner marks as noted in the photos. The bottom knob on the scabbard is also dented as noted in the photos.
